Pretentious, pretty, resilient, sturdy, king of reliability
‘Have you heard the term; said beans ‘there is strength in numbers? Straining to remain stable, its robust feature glistening, ‘well there is way too many of us not to be noticed!
If you think the coconut is a recluse then think of the beans as the complete opposite, while the coconut is extremely strong, sturdy and resilient, the beans is not really strong, not reclusive, not very tall, does not stand on it’s own legs, but there is an immense number of them.
I guess you can say the beans and the ground nut are in a perpetual contest for the title of the ‘always available king’. However the beans is not easily grown, from the time it is stuck in the ridge you must keep it shielded from the sun, because of it’s arrogance, the sun could easily stifle it, you must give it water, you must keep weeds off of it, and when it splits open and begins to sprout you must prop it up. But wait, before you realize it, it has become so many that you could feed an entire table with a single ridge.
Have you heard of the African bean cake, ‘you simply grind the dried beans together with salt, water, butter or vegetable oil, perhaps some spices and stick it in an oven and voila! Delicious side dish has arrived, for dinner or brunch and if you want to enrich its flavor, you can add shredded or sliced boiled eggs or sautéed and deep fried beef or lamb, and your traditional meatloaf does not stand a chance.
And if you decide to fry it, you can’t have any better complement to your breakfast. Yes indeed, the beans although simple has many facets, and without any doubt is superior when you want a reliable product of the earth!
